Information for Fogging Systems
The most common cause of system and nozzle clogging is foreign matter (Scale buildup) in nozzle lines, tubing and especially the nozzle filters. The “Scale” is typically formed when silicates bond with calcium, iron, sulfides and magnesium in the water. “Scale” can often be reduced/eliminated by injecting small amounts of PERpose™ cleaner into the water on the low-pressure side of the fogging system pump. The typical level needed for PERpose™ to prevent scale is about 9 ppm (as hydrogen peroxide.) To obtain a correct residual reading for PERpose™ in solution, use an PERpose™ Test Kit available from A Growing Alternative, Inc. Naturally
the dosage of PERpose™ will depend on the quality and quantity of water
being used in the facility.
Some water supplies contain traces of organic matter and or elements,
including, but not limited to iron, manganese, and sulfides, and will
require a higher injection rate to maintain a proper residual level
of PERpose™.
PERpose™ is affected by high levels of calcium, iron, sulfides, manganese and magnesium, that may be present in the water. Injection levels must be adjusted for any elevated mineral levels. For example, if a water supply had a low mineral content and required 9 ppm of PERpose™, a high mineral content, may require 15 ppm to accommodate for the loss due to oxidation of the minerals that may be in the water. However, the benefit is that the excess minerals will be removed through the process of oxidation, which will in turn, help keep nozzles & filters from clogging. PERpose™ is compatible with all growing plants and animals, including fish and birds. Unlike chlorine, which can leave behind a residual, PERpose™ “Water-Cleaner” immediately biodegrades on contact as the scale is dissolved through the process of oxidation. Long-term exposures of PERpose™ will not cause detrimental harm to people, plants, animals, or materials of construction. Read the MSDS before using. Ensure the area is properly ventilated.
