The most common cause of system and nozzle clogging is foreign matter (Scale buildup) in nozzle lines, tubing and especially the nozzle filters. The “Scale” is typically formed when silicates bond with calcium, iron, sulfides and magnesium in the water. “Scale” can often be reduced/eliminated by injecting small amounts of PERpose™ cleaner into the water on the low-pressure side of the fogging pump system. The typical level needed for PERpose™ to prevent scale is about 9 ppm (as hydrogen peroxide.)
Up to 10 GPM (gallons-per-minute) fogging systems can be treated with PERpose™ at 0 - 12 GPD (gallons per day) with a chemical metering injector-pump and associated product solutions holding tanks (10, 15 and 35 gallon capacity.) The chemical metering pump is adjustable and the output ranges from 0.01 - 0.50 GPH (gallons per hour.)
Naturally the dosage of PERpose™ will depend on the quality and quantity of water being used in the facility. Only cold potable water should be used to create fog. Some water supplies contain traces of organic matter and or elements, including, but not limited to iron, manganese, and sulfides, and will require a higher injection rate to maintain a proper residual level of PERpose™.
To begin using PERpose™, follow the instruction guide of the manufacturer regarding starting and priming the injector pump. Do not place the metering pump higher than 5 ft., or (2.7 m.) above the ground
Step 1
Determine the total flow of the fogging system. The following chart shows the fog capacity, by the number of nozzles, for fogging systems in the 1 to 10 gal. per minute range. The capacity for fogging systems that do not use all the nozzles can be determined by simply multiplying the number of nozzles in use by 0.026.
For example: the system with 50 nozzles is using a total of 1.3 GPM

2
Estimate the make down tank recipe by looking at the chart for determining
the injector pump setting. By looking at the chart for a given fog capacity
select a make down recipe that can be injected into the system.
For example: A 3 gallon per minute
fog capacity unit could not use the 3000ppm
recipe as the injector pump could not pump this in the system fast enough.
In this
case the 3 gallon per minute fog capacity unit must use at least the 4000ppm
recipe, or higher.

Directions:
1. Look up the fog Capacity for
the System in the left hand Column
2. Look up the Concentration from the make down recipe that has been recently
prepared
3. Note that pump output setting, PERpose™ tank strength, and the number of
fog nozzles in the system (water flow rate) all effect PERpose™ fog strength
4. Wet the PERpose™ test strip directly in the fog. It should compare to the
9 ppm color on the test strip vial.
x*Select a higher concentration

x**Select a lower concentration for the make-down solution.
Let the system run until the treated water is evident throughout the system. Use the PERpose™ test kit.
.
Using the test kit, obtain a reading of the water from the end of the water flow lines and follow the kits instructions to obtain a correct residual PERpose™ reading. Then test for proper levels of PERpose™. If potable water contains elevated levels of scale, additional PERpose™ may have to be injected until proper level is achieved. Using the test kit, obtain a reading from water in the end of the water flow lines and follow the kit instructions for obtaining a correct residual reading. Remember that too much PERpose™ will bleach the test strip.
REMEMBER: The amount of PERpose™ is not what is important in the water. It only indicates the amount of PERpose™ you are adding. What is important is the residual PERpose™ in solution. This is the amount of PERpose™ still present in the system left over and still active after mixing with the Scale and Organic matter within your system.
PERpose™ “An All Purpose Water-Cleaner” PropertiesPERpose™ is affected by high levels of calcium, iron, sulfides, manganese and magnesium, that may be present in the water. Injection levels must be adjusted for any elevated mineral levels. For example, if a water supply had a low mineral content and required 9 ppm of PERpose™, a high mineral content, may require 15 ppm to accommodate for the loss due to oxidation of the minerals that may be in the water. However, the benefit is that the excess minerals will be removed through the process of oxidation, which will in turn, help keep nozzles & filters from clogging.
PERpose™ is compatible with all growing plants and animals, including fish and birds. Unlike chlorine, which can leave behind a residual, PERpose™ “Water-Cleaner” immediately biodegrades on contact as the Scale is soluabilized through the process of oxidation. Long-term exposures of PERpose™ will not cause detrimental harm to people, plants, animals, or materials of construction.
“ An All Purpose Water-Cleaner” vs. chlorine (sodium hypo-chlorite)
PERpose™ is formulated using the oxidative powers of Hydrogen Peroxide (a/k/a Hydrogen Dioxide). PERpose™ is one of the most powerful oxidizers known and stronger than chlorine & chlorine dioxide.
PERpose™ is safe, despite its power. PERpose™ is a natural
metabolite of Scale causing minerals, which decompose PERpose™ into
oxygen and water. This attribute makes PERpose™ the environmental
choice over the carcinogenic properties of chlorine. PERpose™ is truly
a remarkable product that offers multiple benefits and applications. This
versatile technology oxidizes away pollutants such as calcium, iron, sulfides,
manganese and magnesium (Scale).
PERpose™ “Water-Cleaner” offers the following:
Odor Control: Oxidizes hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, amines and aldehydes. For those odors caused by biological activity, PERpose™ can be added to eliminate anerobic conditions, which favor the generation of odors.
Corrosion Control: Destroys residual sulfur compounds, sulfites and sulfides, which form corrosive acids when condensed into processing equipment and then oxidized into the air.
Non-Residual: PERpose™ will oxidize the minerals that cause Scale build up. PERpose™, unlike chemical poisons such as chlorine, works on a totally different principal through oxidation. The by-product of this process of oxidation is the environmentally safe release of water and oxygen.
PH Independent: Unlike chlorine, which is heavily affected by the pH levels of water, PERpose™ works independently of pH levels.
The PERpose™ test strips are designed to detect inorganic and organic peroxygen compounds. The test strips are designed to detect residual amounts of PERpose™ present in water when using high dilutions of PERpose™
| Method
of determination: Instructions for
use: Note: To test for residual PERpose™ in water treatment or fogging systems, a reading of 2 to 5 is optimal. The appearance of any blue coloration can be interpreted as a positive reaction, indicating that proper amounts of residual PERpose™ are present in the water/fog. |
